Jewell not just a firefighter

New Derby manager Paul Jewell accepts he is getting a reputation as something of a firefighter at struggling clubs but believes he has more to offer than that.

The 43-year-old was unveiled as Billy Davies´ successor at Pride Park on Wednesday on a three-and-a-half-year contract and was immediately charged with saving the Rams from relegation from the Premier League.

"I don´t want to be a firefighter all my life," said Jewell. "I don´t mind a fight - the best teams in the world have to be able to fight and if it is good enough for Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United to fight it is certainly good enough for Derby."
