Tottenham chief executive Daniel Levy has told striker Jermain Defoe to demonstrate his commitment to Spurs by signing a new contract.

The 25-year-old´s current deal expires in the summer, meaning he will be free to talk to other clubs.

"Actions speak louder than words. He has to make a decision in the next few weeks as to whether he´s committed to staying," Levy told BBC Radio Five Live. "That´s what he says to me and to the fans, so I very much hope he´ll sign a new contract."
