Redknapp signs Pompey deal

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has signed a new contract which will keep him at Fratton Park until 2011, the club have confirmed.

The 60-year-old Pompey boss, who had been linked to succeed Martin Jol at Spurs before the appointment of Juande Ramos, has been rewarded for his team´s fine start to the season., but with Pompey currently lying seventh in the Barclays Premier League, the Fratton Park club have moved to secure the manager´s future.

Redknapp told the club website, "I´m delighted. Since returning to Fratton Park I have had nothing but the utmost support from the owner Sacha Gaydamak and chief executive Peter Storrie."
