Redknapp´s challenge for Nugent

Football News
Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has challenged David Nugent to prove he is worth a permanent starting place at Fratton Park, after he fired Pompey into the Carling Cup fourth round.

Nugent´s 69th-minute effort nudged the Barclays Premier League side past Burnley - and was only his second goal since moving south in a £6million summer move.

Redknapp famously spoke of selling Nugent within weeks of landing him on a four-year contract - but now he believes he is capable of building on his goal at Turf Moor, saying: "I hope David will come on from this. He needs to work hard and take his chances when they come. We´ve got a bit of competition up there - because Kanu has been fantastic, and I have got four up front."
