Schmeichel denies Scots

Manchester City´s Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel maintained his fine early-season form to further dent Scotland´s UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifying hopes in a 0-0 stalemate.

Schmeichel - the son of Denmark legend Peter - shone on loan at Falkirk last season and again illustrated his talent to the Scottish public with crucial saves at Dunfermline´s East End Park.

Scotland, who lost their opening qualifier 3-2 in Finland at the weekend, were also guilty of failing to take their chances and now face an uphill struggle to reach the finals in Sweden - the closest they came was when Rangers striker Steven Naismith hit the bar in the second half.
