Former England captain Alan Mullery feels the re-emergence of Shaun Wright-Phillips will put pressure on David Beckham´s place within the international set-up.

Mullery - who made 35 appearances for the national team - believes Wright-Phillips, who scored in Saturday´s 3-0 victory over Israel, can now cement his place in the England team ahead of former skipper Beckham, currently sidelined with a knee problem.

"If Shaun Wright-Phillips plays like that on Wednesday [against Russia], then definitely. He gives you something different and has also looked extremely sharp playing for Chelsea this season," Mullery told BBC Radio Five Live.
