Arjen Robben is hoping to put the injury problems that blighted his last days at Chelsea behind him as he embarks on a new life with Real Madrid.

The Holland winger enjoyed a memorable first season in London after moving to Stamford Bridge from PSV Eindhoven in 2004, but fitness problems curtailed his progress after that.

"For a player, the most frustrating thing is to be injured, and many times there is nothing you can do about it, the only thing is to work hard to come back," Robben said after signing a five-year contract with Real on Thursday. "That is why I want to make a new start here. I know I am strong, I know I can do it."
