Ferguson expects injuries

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has shrugged off Wayne Rooney´s injury, saying "these things happen in football".

The 21-year-old England striker has broken a metatarsal for the third time in three years and is expected to be out of action for at least two months.

Losing Rooney after less than 90 minutes of the league season but Ferguson told the Herald: "These things happen in football. The way the game is, the competition levels and the speed, you are going to get injuries throughout a season."
