Arsenal predicted line-up v Wigan

Arsenal head to Wigan Athletic for the early kick-off on Saturday and will be looking to build on an impressive win against Premier League basement boys Reading on Monday night.

However, their last meeting with the Latics ended in defeat at Emirates Stadium and any repeat would likely lead to more talks about the Gunners in crisis.

Roberto Martinez may find it difficult this time around though, as he has a number of injury worries to deal with ahead of the clash.

Four of his central defenders could be absent for the game at the DW Stadium, while in-form midfielder James McCarthy is struggling to shake off an injury picked up in the loss to Norwich last weekend.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has an almost clean bill of health, with only Lukas Fabianski and Abou Diaby on the injury list so he will have some big selection decisions to make.

Theo Walcott was used in the centre-forward position he craves so much for at Reading and was impressive as Arsenal cruised to a 5-2 victory, which leave Wenger with a dilemma.

The French tactician will have to decide between the speedy young England international or the more physical Olivier Giroud.

However, it may be that victory at the Madejski Stadium will see him reluctant to change things too greatly.

Here is GMF’s predicted line-up for Arsenal’s clash with Wigan in the Premier League on Saturday December 22:

Szczesny; Sagna, Gibbs, Mertesacker, Vermaelen; Arteta, Wilshere, Cazorla; Podolski, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott.
