Manchester United forward set for Portuguese loan move

Manchester United striker Bebe is on the verge of joining Portuguese side Rio Ave on loan, according to club president Antonio Silva Campos.

Sky Sports reports how the 22-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the Red Devils first-team, and spent last season on loan at Besiktas after a difficult first year in England.

However, Bebe spent most of his time in Turkey sidelined by an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which further halted his progress before a return to Old Trafford in the summer.

The Portuguese youngster is yet to feature for Manchester United this campaign, and so Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to ship him out again, in a bid to help the player rediscover the sort of form that prompted the Premier League giants to pay £7.4million for his signature in 2010.

A return to his homeland looks the most likely outcome, with Rio Ave - who currently sit fifth in Portugal's top flight, 14 points adrift of leaders Benfica - ready to offer Bebe the chance of regular first-team football.

"He [Bebe] is one of the players who should be just hours away from joining, but there are still some details left to address," Campos told Renascenca. "His signing could be announced very shortly."
