Who says football players are out of touch with reality? Saint-Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reached a new high - or, perhaps, low - by sporting the most decadent pair of boots ever seen.

The Gabon international was pictured warming up wearing Nike Murcurial Vapors encrusted in Swarovski crystals prior to Les Verts' clash with Lyon on Monday, with the boots valued at an eye-watering €3000.

According to Dirty Tackle, the boots - made by Orravan Design - took more than 50 hours to complete as 4000 or so crystals were embedded into the leather - but Aubameyang did not even wear them to play in.

The 23-year-old switched to a less abrasive pair for the meeting with the Ligue 1 leaders, but was unable to make his presence felt as Lyon claimed a 1-0 win.

Lyon remain top of the French top-flight following three points against their local rivals, and maintain a five-point advantage over Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille.
