Frank Lampard will not miss the start of the new season after Chelsea denied the midfielder had suffered a broken toe.

The England star has not missed a single training session since he collected the minor knock during their pre-season tour of America and is almost certain to be included in Jose Mourinho´s side for Sunday´s Community Shield showdown with Manchester United.

A Chelsea spokesperson confirmed: "Contrary to speculation, Frank has only suffered a minor injury - sustained over three weeks ago whilst training in Los Angeles. The injury has not required any painkilling injections nor affected Frank´s ability to play or to take part in any one of Chelsea´s training sessions."
