Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is determined to add to his playing staff after securing the services of Bulgaria winger Martin Petrov.

The £4.7million buy from Atletico Madrid joins Rolando Bianchi, Gelson Fernandes and Geovanni in beating a path to Eastlands under the new regime.

Eriksson said: "The chairman (Thaksin Shinawatra) means serious business and wants to build a big team, one that is not fighting at the bottom.
