Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso believes Chris Coleman has what it takes to succeed at the helm of his old club, Real Sociedad.

The former Fulham coach was appointed as manager of the Basque side late last month and Alonso admits he was surprised by the decision.

The Liverpool midfielder told Spanish sports daily Marca: "In England, his decision to move abroad was big news. At first it was a big surprise that he chose to go to Real instead of looking for another team in the Premier League."
