Marseille president Pape Diouf expressed his delight and relief after seeing his club close in on the permanent transfer of Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse.

The France striker, who spent last season on loan at the Stade Velodrome, is set to pen a reported four-year contract at OM this weekend after they "reached an agreement in principle" with Liverpool, and Diouf is happy to have finally got his man.

"Djibril will be a Marseille player," he said. "It was symbolic for us in our recruitment to keep Djibril in our ranks. It has not been without pain that we have reached this point, so we are very satisfied to bring an end to this affair."
