Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli believes the club are in a position to improve on last season´s fifth-placed Premier League finish following the signings of Gareth Bale and Darren Bent.

Bent´s arrival from Charlton was announced on Friday in a £16.5million deal while Wales left-back Bale joined earlier in a £10million deal from Southampton but there is more transfer activity tipped at Spurs before the start of the season, with boss Martin Jol looking to strengthen the left side of midfield.

Comolli said: "The two signings we´ve completed so far in Darren and Gareth Bale offer us massive improvement in terms of the squad, players with great potential whose best days are in front of them."
