Portsmouth are confident their new stadium will open in 2011 - despite a report declaring the club are already behind schedule with their planning application.

The club hoped to begin work on their spectacular new 36,000 seater stadium by the waterfront next summer, but it has been claimed the project is now in danger with a delay in making the planning application, which was due to be completed by the autumn, is alleged to be the stumbling block.

But Pompey responded by insisting their relocation from Fratton Park remains on schedule, issuing a club statement which read: "We completely refute any story that plans for the new club´s stadium are in danger. The club would like to reassure fans that we are still on track for an August 2011 opening."
