Blades confident over reprieve

Sheffield United chiefs have once again expressed their conviction that an independent arbitration panel will find in their favour and overturn their relegation from the Barclays Premier League next week.

Blades plc chairman Kevin McCabe led a club delegation to Brussels on Friday at which he made presentations to both the European Commissioner for culture and sport, Jan Figel, and representatives of Timothy Kirkhope, the leader of the conservatives in the European Parliament.

The Blades are adamant they deserve to remain in the top flight next season because West Ham should have been deducted points for fielding Argentinians Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.
