Sneijder: Best if I leave Inter Milan in January

Wesley Sneijder has revealed he is on the verge of leaving Inter Milan by declaring that it is 'best for everyone' that he leaves the San Siro in the new year.

The Dutch international hasn't played for Inter since September as a contract dispute continues to rumble on.

Inter want to lower Sneijder's sizeable pay packet, believed to be around £200,000-per-week in order to reduce their wage bill, something he has refused to agree to, meaning he has been left out in the cold and on the verge of leaving the club he helped guide to Champions League glory in 2010.

Inter further twisted the knife by sending the 28-year-old home early for Christmas.

Speaking to De Telegraf in Holland Sneijder said: “Clearly it’s better for everyone if I leave in January,” Sneijder was quoted as telling Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

“If that doesn’t happen, then I will stay. I have a contract until the end of June 2015 with Inter.”

Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni hinted yesterday that he would be willing to play Sneijder in the future by a saying a 'shirt is ready for him'.

Reports over Christmas claimed that Tottenham have agreed terms with the player, while Manchester United have a long-standing interest in the former Real Madrid man.
