The Arsenal board are reportedly ready to sanction a move for Manchester City executive Brian Marwood, who will work alongside Arsene Wenger in the transfer market.
Wenger has been without a link man to the Arsenal hierarchy since the departure of David Dein almost six years ago and, according to The People, Marwood has been identified as the ideal person to fill the void.
Marwood won the league with Arsenal as a player in 1989, while he has worked extensively on recruitment since initially joining Manchester City in the role of football administrator three years ago.
The 52-year-old has, however, been marginalised after former Barcelona supremo Txiki Begiristain was placed in charger of player purchases and contracts, and Marwood would reportedly be interested in a move from Manchester City to Arsenal.
Marwood is reported to have a good relationship with Wenger following the sales of Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri to Manchester City, and the Arsenal boss would feel less isolated with the arrival of a go-between.
Wenger has often been a reluctant spender in the transfer market, but Marwood may encourage the Frenchman to be less frugal, should he join Arsenal.
