Real Madrid continue to track Radamel Falcao and could make a summer move for the Atletico Madrid forward if Cristiano Ronaldo heads for the exit, according to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.

Falcao has established himself as one of the deadliest strikers on the continent with Atletico Madrid after a hugely successful spell with Porto, and is being tracked by a host of leading European clubs.

Chelsea and Manchester City appear to be at the front of the queue for the Colombian’s signature – although the player himself insists he won’t move until the summer at the earliest.

However Real Madrid could move to steal Falcao from the clutches of either Chelsea or Manchester City by raiding their rivals in the summer.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid will target another ‘Galactico’ signing in Falcao if Cristiano Ronaldo decides to leave the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo is said to be stalling on signing a new deal and could head back to Manchester United, which could prompt Real Madrid to enter the race for Falcao.

According to the paper, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is planning on being active in the next two transfer windows after seeing his side fall well behind Barcelona in the title race.

The Catalan club sit at the top of the pile while Madrid are 16 points back going into the second half of the season.

Although Chelsea appear to be on the verge of covering their attacking options by landing Demba Ba from Newcastle, Daniel Sturridge’s departure from Stamford Bridge would still only leave them with two outright strikers.

Manchester City meanwhile have plenty of options in attack but could make a move to sign Falcao in the summer.
