Atletico Madrid have no intention of allowing reported Liverpool target Arda Turan leave the club during the winter window, reports Sky Sports.

The 25-year-old is the latest name to be linked with a move to the Premier League club, but Los Rojiblancos coach Diego Simeone insists that the Turkish international remains very much part of his first-team squad at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

"First, I have not heard anything and I have seen it a lot," said the Argentine. "Everyone can comment on whatever you want.

"The important thing is what he shows on the field. Arda is one of the best players. He shows heart in every one of our matches."

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has already completed the signing of Daniel Sturridge in a reported £12million deal from Chelsea, but is now looking to bring Turan to Anfield, as he attempts to further strengthen Liverpool's attacking ranks.

"He has a contract with our club and he shows everyone what he has to offer," added Simeone.

With Luis Suarez currently the only fit and recognised striker on Merseyside, many believe that it's the centre forward department that needs most attention, while Turan specialises as a left-sided winger.

Raheem Sterling and Stewart Downing currently occupy the flanks for an injury-hit Liverpool side, with summer signing Fabio Borini still sidelined.
