Manchester United look to be chasing Brazilian youngster Leo Baptistao after Sir Alex Ferguson send his brother Martin to watch the Rayo Vallecano star.

The 20-year-old has been in impressive form for the club from Madrid’s suburbs in his debut season for the senior side and this has been noticed by scouts from Old Trafford, according to AS.

Formerly a teammate of Neymar at Santos in his youth days, Baptistao moved to Spain as a 16-year-old but it is only his first season in the first team.

Martin Ferguson is one of the Old Trafford boss’ most trusted scouts in Europe and his reported presence at Rayo’s 3-1 victory over local rivals Getafe would indicate Manchester United are seriously considering a move for Baptistao.

They will have been impressed by what they have seen of the young Brazilian as he has already notched six times this season, while also getting four assists.

Manchester United have a wealth of attacking talent with Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck, while promising youngster Angelo Henriquez is currently on loan at Wigan Athletic.
