Manchester United are planning to raid Atletico Madrid for another goalkeeper, this time is it promising 18-year-old David Gil.

According to Marca, Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson has sent his brother and top European scout, Martin Ferguson, to watch the exciting young shot-stopper in Atletico training.

Gil has recently been promoted from the youth squad to the Atletico Madrid B team and the report claims he is also often called to train with the senior team by manager Diego Simeone.

It was only the summer of 2011 when Manchester United raided Atleti for another goalkeeper, David de Gea, in a deal worth £18.9million.

According to the report, Atletico want to keep hold of Gil but would be forced to consider a sale if a sizeable bid came in for him, much like what happened with the Red Devils signing De Gea.

Gil has represented Spain at every youth level up to Under-20 and should not be confused with current Manchester United chief executive David Gill.
