Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is plotting a move for French midfielder Etienne Capoue, according to reports.
The Daily Star claims Wenger is targeting the £10million-rated 24-year-old to ‘add some steel’ to the Gunners midfield, with the four-cap international seen as a perfect fit for the Premier League.
Capoue joined the Toulouse youth team in 2005, and graduated to the club’s senior setup two years later.
A regular since the start of the 2008/09 campaign, Capoue has finally earned international recognition, making four appearance to-date for Les Bleus since making his debut in August last year.
Arsenal have a track record of bringing players from Ligue 1 to north London, with Olivier Giroud the most recent example at the Emirates Stadium.
Robert Pires and Nicolas Anelka both moved to Highbury in the past, whilst Gael Clichy was another success story before leaving the Gunners.
And, whilst Marouane Chamakh has been something of a failure for Arsenal since he made the move in 2010, it appears Wenger is ready to gamble again on a country he knows so well. The Frenchman has also been linked with a move for Yann M'Vila from Stade Rennes.
