Lionel Messi

Malaga 1-3 Barcelona

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi may be feted for his unparalleled goalscoring ability, but the Argentina maestro is also a dab hand when it comes to laying on opportunities for his teammate.

Messi provided 27 assists last season, and already has 12 this term, none of which will have been better than the delightful through ball to set-up Cesc Fabregas' goal against Malaga on Sunday.

Luka Modric

Real Madrid 4-0 Celta Vigo

Things have not exactly gone to plan for Luka Modric since completing his protracted transfer to Real Madrid from Tottenham, with the Croatian having played just 790 minutes of football in six months.

However, Modric was able to display just why Real Madrid strived so desperately to sign him, when he sent Cristiano Ronaldo through on goal in the defeat of Celta Vigo.

Maurizio Domizzi

Udinese 3-1 Fiorentina

There may be a hint of offside in this example as Antonio di Natale sits on the shoulder of the Fiorentina defender, but let's not take anything away from the sumptuous ball from Maurizio Domizzi.

The Udinese a trademark run from Di Natale and weights a perfect pass over the top of the defence and, as he invariably does, the striker finishes expertly.

Remy Cabella

Montpellier 2-0 Lorient

Remy Cabella first displays great tenacity before showing supreme technique in this instance, as he wins the ball for his team before providing the assist for a goal.

The Frenchman is quick into the tackle, before taking one touch to get the ball out of his feet and another to send Gaetan Charbonnier goalbound.

Marek Hamsik

Napoli 3-0 Palermo

Only Barcelona duo Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas have more assists than Marek Hamsik in Europe's top five leagues this season, and that comes as no great surprise with the ability to cross a ball like this.

Hamsik provided a nigh on unmissable chance for Christian Maggio, taking out the Palermo defence with a lethal cross, as Napoli streaked to a comfortable win.
