Manchester United are reportedly confident of beating Arsenal to the signing of Wilfried Zaha, and have already made an offer for the highly-rated Crystal Palace winger.

According to, Manchester United have offered an initial £6 million for Zaha, and believe they will capture the England international ahead of Arsenal.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal have confirmed their interest in Zaha this week, with David Gill and Arsene Wenger stating that the 20-year-old is on their respective lists of transfer targets.

Manchester United, though, appear to have made the first formal approach for Zaha, although Crystal Palace are expected to reject the Old Trafford club's initial proposal.

Palace are reportedly holding out for a fee in excess of £10 million, although Manchester United hope that the offer of allowing Zaha to finish the season at Selhurst Park on loan may sweeten any potential deal.

Arsenal, however, are reportedly set to hold talks of their own with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish this week with Wenger striving to reinforce his squad during the January transfer window.

Zaha is a self-confessed Arsenal fan, which could work on favour of the Gunners should the youngster be offered a choice between a move to the Emirates Stadium or Old Trafford.
