Manchester United have been linked with a move for Ajax starlet Viktor Fischer often in the past and his performances so far this season have proved why Sir Alex Ferguson was reportedly keen on attaining him.

The 18-year-old will have further tempted the Old Trafford club into a bid after another display of clinical finishing in ‘De Klassieker’ between the Amsterdam club and fierce rivals Feyenoord.

Fischer bagged two first half goals to effectively secure Ajax the three points and took his tally in the Eredivisie for this season to eight.

The interesting thing about this stat is that he has now scored more goals in his first ten Ajax league games than both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marco van Basten.

While the importance of stats can often be overestimated in places, this one does help to illustrate how much promise the young Denmark international has and the high regard in which he is held at Ajax.
