Barcelona won’t sell Manchester United keeper target

Manchester United will have to wait until next year if they want to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

A report in The Times claimed Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson was preparing to offload inconsistent ‘keeper David de Gea and was interested in taking Vales to the Red Devils.

Any prospect Ferguson had of signing the 31-year-old now appears to be over as a report in Spanish newspaper Marca claims the Camp Nou club are not interested in cashing in on him.

Valdes last week told Barcelona he would not be renewing his current deal, which runs out in the summer of 2014, and it sparked much speculation over where he would be going and who the Catalan club would draft in top replace him.

Reports such as that in The Times suggested a move this summer for the Spain international, but this now appears out of the question as the Marca report claims president Sandro Rosell does not want to offload the ‘keeper and wants him to see out his deal.
