Manchester United transfer target Victor Wanyama has revealed he will not be leaving Celtic in the January transfer window, according to

The Kenyan international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, after a series of impressive performances for his Scottish club in the Champions League and Scottish Premier League.

But Wanyama has confirmed he will not be joining United this month, committing himself to Celtic for the foreseeable future.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Wanyama said: "I can confirm to you that I will be at Celtic. We are playing well and our Champions League dream is on right now, so I am looking forward to the big game against Juventus."

Sir Alex Ferguson had been linked with a £12m bid for Wanyama, but it now appears United will have to wait until the summer for another opportunity to sign the midfielder.

The 21-year-old was superb as Celtic beat Barcelona in the Champions League group stage earlier this season, and he was excellent again in a 2-1 defeat to the Catalan club at the Nou Camp.

United are thought to have watched Wanyama on a number of occasions, while reports had indicated the Kenyan star was open to a move south of the boder.

But Wanyama has insisted he's committed to Celtic - until the summer at least.

"A lot has been said about my intended move but I have not given it much thought and even my manager feels I should play until the end of the season for Celtic," said Wanyama. "Then, from that point, the doors can be open for a move."
