Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes Paris Saint-Germain are on the road to success after David Beckham's arrival in the French capital.

The former England captain joined the Ligue 1 leaders on a free transfer on deadline day, ending months of speculation over the 37-year-old's next destination.

His arrival at the Parc des Princes creates a number of interesting dynamics, with the veteran now playing alongside the likes of Lucas Moura and Javier Pastore - as well as mercurial Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It's a combination that Ferdinand thinks will work well, and the centre back expects his ex-teammate to help get the best out of the former Barcelona superstar.

"Becks signing for PSG.... Zlatan will thrive off of Becks' right foot," he wrote on his official Facebook page.

Ibrahimovic has been in sparkling form without Beckham this season, scoring 20 goals in 20 league games since arriving from AC Milan in the summer transfer window.

However, the former LA Galaxy star remains one of the best in the business when it comes to set-plays and delivery, and Ibrahimovic may well thrive both domestically and in Europe now football's most recognisable face has joined him at PSG under Carlo Ancelotti.
