Manchester United and Paris St Germain are preparing for a transfer tussle over Real Madrid star Angel di Maria.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Sir Alex Ferguson has joined the Ligue 1 big-spenders in taking a keen interest in the future of the Argentina winger.

The report claims both United and PSG have made informal enquiries behind the scenes regarding Di Maria’s future.

It also claims the 24-year-old may be open to a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu if current manager Jose Mourinho decides to leave.

Manchester United already have a number of wide players in the form of Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Nani.

However, the latter of the trio has had uncertainty surrounding his future at Old Trafford and he has not played as regularly as in recent seasons when fit.

Ferguson may be hard pressed to land his man should PSG decide to get serious about a bid, as the Qatar-backed side would prevail in any bidding war.
