Pulis: We'd consider 'enormous' Manchester United bid for Bosnian international

Tony Pulis has revealed Manchester United target Asmir Begovic will not definitely leave the club at the end of the season - but admitted if Sir Alex Ferguson made an 'enormous' bid for the goalkeeper, he would have to consider it.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Stoke City boss insisted that the Bosnian international is not certain to leave the Britannia Stadium in the summer - despite speculation that Manchester United are interested.

The Potters also snapped up Birmingham and England keeper Jack Butland in a £4m deal last month, leading to reports that the 19-year-old could replace Begovic as Stoke number one next season, with Begovic set to move on to United.

But Pulis revealed that's not a certainty.

"If Manchester United come in and offer an enormous amount of money or someone else does, we would have to look at it," said Pulis.

"But I haven't brought in Butland because of that.

The Stoke City boss even revealed Butland - who returned to Birmingham on loan for the rest of the season - could spend the next season on loan as well.

"If it comes to next season and we've still got three goalkeepers and feel Jack isn't ready, he'll be loaned out again," Pulis continued.

"There was no thought in my mind of bringing Butland in just in case Asmir went. We felt it was a fantastic opportunity. The price was unbelievable."

Begovic has established himself as one of the Premier League's most consistent young keepers this season, and has been identified as a possible replacement for current United number one David De Gea in several reports.

Ferguson has reportedly lost patience with De Gea, after several high profile mistakes, and the Spaniard could be set for a return to La Liga, with Atletico Madrid the latest club to be linked with the goalkeeper.
