Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira is being linked with a sensational return to north London.

The former French international midfielder is in the running to replace Liam Brady as the head of youth development at the Emirates Stadium, with The Daily Mail reporting that Arsene Wenger has ‘sounded out’ his former captain over the job.

Ex-Arsenal teammate Dennis Bergkamp is also on the shortlist for the job, according to the report, with the Gunners looking at former stars to help develop the best young talent in north London.

Vieira currently holds a position the football development executive role at Manchester City – a position he took in 2011 after hanging up his boots.

The 36-year-old ended his career at the Etihad Stadium, spending a season with the Citizens following spells at Cannes, AC Milan, Arsenal, Juventus and Inter Milan.

However, his according to the reportManchester City position is ‘largely ambassadorial’ under Roberto Mancini, , and the three-time Premier League champion is said to be ‘tempted’ by the possibility of returning to the training pitch under Wenger’s guidance.
