Chelsea & Manchester City target “will never leave Naples”

Chelsea and Manchester City have been dealt a blow in their chase for transfer target Marek Hamsik, as his agent says he will never leave Napoli.

The Serie A star has long been linked with a move to either Stamford Bridge or the Etihad Stadium, but the latest comments suggest it may never happen.

“I know Marek really well and he is very different from other footballers," agent Mino Raiola is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.

"He's in love with the city of Naples, he is very tied to the club and the President.

"I don't think he will ever leave Naples and Napoli. I believe that he will end his career with the club without ever wearing the shirt of another club."

Interest from Roberto Mancini at Manchester City and out of Chelsea is understandable as Hamsik has been in terrific form so far this season.

The Slovakian has provided the second most assists for goals in Europe this season with 11 and has been integral in Napoli’s title challenge this season – they are just three points behind leaders Juventus in Serie A.

Chelsea have not been struggling for goals recently and their midfield has an abundance of creative talent, with the likes of Juan Mata, Oscar and Eden Hazard all impressing at times this season.

A move to the Blues would be surprising as strikers are probably a more pressing concern to owner Roman Abramovich.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have the likes of David Silva and Samir Nasri to create though both of these players have struggled for influence so far this season.
