The Brazilian state championships and other regional competitions always give viewers some early year treats to enjoy.

Extraordinary goals are a regular occurrence in the country that produces Samba football.

Normally it would be superstars like Neymar or Ronaldinho that get attention for amazing goals, but the Copa do Nordeste has just supplied us with a strike to savour.

Fortaleza were hosting Santa Cruz in one of the last 16 of this season’s edition of the tournament.

The two sides played out a thrilling match which looked like heading towards a 3-2 win for the home side.

That is until defender Everton Sena got hold of the ball 35 yards out with just over five minutes remaining and let fly with a rasping drive.

It flew straight and true to crash home off the far post and draw the game.

A stunning way top share the spoils and set up an exciting second leg on Sunday.

Watch Everton Sena’s incredible goal above.
