Arsenal forward Theo Walcott says Arsene Wenger's squad is on a high ahead of their FA Cup fifth-round clash with Blackburn on Saturday.

The 23-year-old is confident of progressing to the next round, and takes belief from last weekend's spirited win over Sunderland - a result that could help to define the Gunners season.

Rafa Benitez insists Chelsea will be taking the Europa League seriously, starting with tonight's trip to Sparta Prague.

The Spaniard won Europe's second-tier club tournament with Valencia in 2004, and has set his sights on another trophy success with the Blues this year.

Manchester City defender Karim Rekik is on the verge of joining Blackburn Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old's representative met with officials from the Championship club this morning in order to finalise the temporary move away from the Etihad Stadium.

Michael Carrick praised Cristiano Ronaldo for his 'respectful' celebration, after the Real Madrid star scored against former club Manchester United last night.

The Portuguese forward cancelled out Danny Welbeck's opener at the Bernabeu, leaving the Champions League tie tentatively poised at 1-1 ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford.

And finally, Tottenham defender William Gallas looks set to leave White Hart Lane when his current deal expires.

The French defender will be out of contract this summer, and manager Andre Villas-Boas is ready to release him, believing that his squad has too many centre-backs.
