Sampdoria’s Pedro Obiang says he is flattered by reports linking him with a move to Manchester City,Chelsea and Tottenham, but says he is happy to stay put in Serie A.
Obiang has emerged as an excellent young talent with Sampdoria over the past two seasons, making 53 appearances for the Serie A club since the start of 2011.
The highly-rated Spanish U-21 star has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Tottenham, with both clubs said to have sent representatives to run the rule over him.
However more recently Obiang, who is also known as Perico, has been linked with a summer switch to Manchester City.
Citizens boss Roberto Mancini has strong ties with Sampdoria after spending 15 years there as a player, and could use his contacts to get the deal done at the end of the season.
Obiang admits he is flattered by constant rumours of a move to a major European club, but says he is willing to stay put and repay the faith shown in him by Sampdoria.
‘I am being flattered by reports in the Italian press but nothing is done yet,' he told Sky Sports.
'I have a contract until 2016 and I do not think they want to sell me.
'I am settled here and I like the life but to be honest it is good to be linked with clubs going places like City where there are big stars and a very good coach who is a legend here at my present club.'
Both Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have been impressed with the midfielder’s superb displays in Serie A behind emerging striker Mauro Icardi.
Spurs have been monitoring 19-year-old Icardi, who could be available for £2million, but it is believed if the young Argentine does leave, it will be for a team where he will play regularly.
That is unlikely to be the case at either White Hart Lane despite the lack of attacking options available to boss Andre Villas-Boas, or at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea are likely to face competition from Spanish and Italian clubs should they make a move for Obiang.
