The young goalkeeper that was attacked in a League One a few weeks ago has overcome his ordeal well and earned a new deal at Tottenham Hotspur.

Jordan Archer hit the headlines early in February when a fan ran onto the pitch during injury time of Wycombe Wanderers’ 1-0 win at Gillingham and lunged into his back.

The 19-year-old ‘keeper was on loan at Wycombe from White Hart Lane and has impressed many commenters with his displays at Adams Park.

Archer has clearly impressed the staff of Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas because they have tied him down to the north London club until the summer of 2015.

He is yet to make a first-team appearance for Tottenham but the Scotland Under-21 international could soon find his chances improve.

France captain Hugo Lloris is now Villas-Boas’ number one, while Brad Freidel is certainly in the latter stages of his career.

Carlo Cudicini recently departed Tottenham for LA Galaxy, so Archer may well find the new contract could last long enough for him to inherit a first team place.
