Robin van Persie is the easiest player to wind up at Manchester United, according to the deadly Dutchman's strike partner Wayne Rooney.

In a Q&A session with the Daily Mirror, the England international revealed how the £24million summer signing from Arsenal has been a constant target for pranksters in the Old Trafford dressing room.

Van Persie might be the sharpest striker in the country, having notched an impressive 23 goals in all competitions for Sir Alex Ferguson's side this season, but he's the slowest when it comes to training ground tricks amongst Manchester United team-mates.

"I'd have to say Robin [is the easiest target]. He's not the brightest," said Rooney. "As much of a good footballer he is, he's definitely not the brightest off the pitch and it's just easy to get to him.

"There's a few who like to joke around. There's no-one who stays really quiet and out of it."

Rooney and Van Persie are not alone when it comes to Manchester United jokes, with Tom Cleverley also identifying Rio Ferdinand, Anderson and Danny Welbeck as club clowns.

"Team jokers? There's a few characters in our dressing-room," he added. "Wazza [Rooney] is always taking your phone if you leave it lying about. Rio, Ando, Welbz [Welbeck], they're all bubbly characters.

"I just try to lay low and stay out of it."

With a return to Premier League action this weekend, Ferguson will demand the utmost professionalism from his players when they travel to Loftus Road to take on Queens Park Rangers.

Victory over Harry Redknapp's side will extend Manchester United's lead at the top of the table to 15 points, with nearest rivals Manchester City set to play Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
