Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has insisted that there is a lot more pressure on managers these days than what there was back when he came to England back in 1996.
The Frenchman has mainly blamed it on the media influence and has said that all the pressure managers come under is because of the hype built-up by the media and the public.
The reason why Wenger was defending managers in his press conference, was after Chelsea's interim manager, Rafael Benitez, hit out at the fans and revealed that he will be leaving the club in the summer.
The Spaniard took aim at all of the Chelsea fans after his side beat Middlesborough 2-0 in the FA Cup, but despite the club's victory, the fans were still against Benitez and have been ever since he joined the club after Roberto Di Matteo's departure.
And Arsene Wenger is another manager himself who has come under pressure and who has hit out at the media in the recent weeks after reporters questioned his desire and wondered if he still believed he could bring succes to the club.
The Arsenal boss has said that he has the upmost sympathy for Benitez, but insists that he himself still loves his job despite the pressure of media.
“Every decision today is analysed, not always in the right way. But that is the price we have to pay because we get more money from media.
“We live in a very comfortable world on the financial side, but the price we have to pay is that everything is analysed and we are more under pressure.
“Football has exactly the same enjoyment [for me]. Managing, watching a game, playing on the pitch, preparing a game is exactly the same.
“The environment of the game has become a bit more difficult but you are not in it for that, you are in football because you love what happens on the pitch.”
