Manchester City have targeted Roma duo Erik Lamela and Miralem Pjanic as potential summer signings as they look to bolster their attacking roster.

TalkSPORT have reported that Patrick Vieira, the club's football development executive, was sent to Rome to cast his eye over the pair as Manchester City search for versatile attackers to provide support for Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero and David Silva.

Following Mario Balotelli's departure and with Samir Nasri underperforming, Lamela and Pjanic have been targeted as apt recruits.

21-year-old Argentinian international Lamela has been successfully employed as a striker at the Stadio Olimpico this season, scoring 11 goals in 22 Serie A appearances. While utility midfielder Pjanic, a 22-year-old Bosnian international, has scored three goals and assisted four.

Vieira was present for Roma's 3-1 win over Genoa at the weekend, in which both Lamela and Pjanic featured. Roma have been in good form of late - a run of three consecutive wins propelling them to seventh in Serie A.
