Manchester United and Arsenal are on alert over the availability of striker Andreas Cornelius, according to reports.

The Daily Express claims the Danish teenager is on the radar of both teams, with the Gunners and Red Devils sending scouts to watch the three-cap international.

Cornelius is certainly open to the possibility of playing in the Premier League, and admits it would be a dream to participate in ‘the best league in the world’.

“I think that the Premier League is the best league in the world and I would love to play there," he told

"It would be like a dream coming true. But there is still a long way and I still have plenty to learn.

"I have a contract with Copenhagen for the next four years so that seems like a good timeframe for me, although things change quickly in football so you never know."

Sir Alex Ferguson has plenty of attacking options at his disposal, with Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck all vying for first team opportunities at Old Trafford.

However, Cornelius would be one for the future at Manchester United, and has impressed with 15 goals in the Danish league this season.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are short of attacking options at the Emirates Stadium, with Olivier Giroud the club’s only senior option through the middle.

And, whilst Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski can both play in the position if required by manager Arsene Wenger, a lack of strength-in-depth has proved to be costly this season.

Cornelius would be a gamble if Arsenal wanted to play him immediately next season, but Wenger has a track record when it comes to Danish strikers in north London, with Nicklas Bendtner joining in 2004.

Gunners fans would hope this particular player is more successful though, if they win the race for his signature ahead of arch-rivals Manchester United of course.
