Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has emerged as a surprise summer transfer target for Juventus and Atletico Madrid, reports The Sun.

The 27-year-old has made an impressive start to life in north London, after joining the Gunners from Cologne in a £10.9million deal last summer.

With 13 goals and numerous assists for Arsene Wenger's side, Podolski has caught the eye in Spain and Italy, with La Liga and Serie 'A' clubs ready to bid for his signature when the transfer window reopens in July.

Podolski is currently sidelined with an ankle injury that will rule him out of Arsenal's Champions League clash against former club Bayern Munich tomorrow night.

The Bundesliga giants boast a 3-1 advantage from the last-16 first leg clash at the Emirates Stadium a fortnight ago - a match in which Podolski scored.

However, the German international has since fallen out of favour with Wenger - who believes Podolski needs to work harder in the first-team - and has made his last three appearances from the Gunners bench.

It's not clear whether Arsenal would be open to selling Podolski this summer, but a bid of £15million might tempt the Premier League side into a deal.
