Torres turns down chance to end Chelsea nightmare

Fernando Torres has delayed his departure from Chelsea by at least a couple months after turning down the chance to join Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.

The Spaniard has spectacularly failed to fire since his £50 million switch to Stamford Bridge in 2011, and hasn't scored a goal in almost 12 hours of Premier League football.

According to the Daily Mail, Anzhi wanted to take Torres at the end of the season, but the 28-year-old is said to be leaning towards a move back to Spain or to Italy if he does decide to leave the Premier League.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid's Radamel Falcao in the summer, with some reports suggesting Torres could be used as a makeweight in the deal.

The Blues landed Demba Ba from Newcastle to add some firepower to their attack in January and increase competition for Torres, although the Senegalese striker only recently broke his own seven-game goal drought in Chelsea's 1-0 win over West Brom.
