Atletico Madrid plot £15m Manchester United striker bid

Atletico Madrid are readying a summer bid for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, according to sources in Spain, reports talkSPORT.

The 24-year-old Mexican international has seen his first-team action limited this season, starting just six Premier League games for the Red Devils, despite his impressive goalscoring form.

Sir Alex Ferguson has the unenviable task of juggling a fearsome forward line that consists of Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck and Hernandez, in a bid to keep all his players happy at Old Trafford.

It's an almost impossible task, however, with each individual deserving of a starting spot, thanks to impressive performances from all four players over the course of the campaign.

Hernandez has made the least number of Premier League starts, and Atletico Madrid are hopeful a £15million bid this summer will be enough to lure him to Spain, with the offer of regular first-team football at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

Los Rojiblancos are expected to sell prolific frontman Radamel Falcao, and Diego Simeone has already identified two possible replacements for the Colombian, with Porto forward Jackson Martinez joining Hernandez at the top of the Argentine coach's wish list.

Last month, the Manchester United striker's agent, Eduardo Hernandez, dismissed reports that the former Guadalajara star was contemplating leaving, insisting that Chicharito was happy at Old Trafford.

"Javier is thinking about his season in United. We are both not thinking about the market rumours," he told ESPN Radio. "It's true that in Manchester there is a lot of competition, but the boy has always played in a good way.

"For this reason I think that this isn't the right moment to leave."
