Arsenal full-back Jenkinson has singled out Monreal, who scored his first goal for the Gunners since joining in January, by saying he is a big fan of his fellow full-back.

The £8.3 million signing from Malaga broke the deadlock against Swansea with only 16 minutes left in the game before Gervinho sealed the victory for Arsenal in injury time to put further pressure on fourth-sport rivals Chelsea and north London rivals Tottenham.

Jenkinson believes the Spaniard has settled very well in England and stressed the importance of the victory over the side who beat them at the Emirates earlier in the season.

"I'm a big fan (of Monreal)," Jenkinson told the club's official website.

"It was really important he got our first goal.  We needed that. Then it was about keeping it tight at the back and Gerv (Gervinho) went and got the second one.  It turned out fantastically in the end.

"It's a huge win. We were buzzing in the changing room because this is a hard place to come to and get a win.  I'm delighted and so are the boys, and so we should be.  We've come here and won 2-0."

He also paid tribute to Swansea and said that it was a tough game to come out on top of.

"It's not easy at Swansea.  They're a good team.  They're good on the ball.  They can pass it and we're over the moon with the win.  It was thoroughly deserved.

"I think in patches we played really good football. Especially towards the end.  It was the sort of game where you have to dig in deep and show a lot of fight.  We did that so i'm delighted."

Arsenal's win takes them to within four points of Spurs, with a game in hand, after their local rival's home defeat to Fulham on Sunday.

Wenger's men have reduced a seven-point gap following defeat in the north London derby, but Jenkinson has urged his teammates to focus on their own game rather than what is going on elsewhere in the league.

"We just need to concentrate on ourselves," he added.  "Other teams are going to drop points.  We want to win every game and we're capable of doing that."
