Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has said he would pick Sergio Busquets over Lionel Messi if he had the chance to pick any Barcelona player.

It may come as a surprise that Ramos would choose to overlook Messi as he is widely to considered to be the world’s best player at the moment and even of all time.

The Santiago Bernabeu star was speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena COPE when he was asked which player he would take to the capital from Camp Nou if given the chance.

Although Busquets may not be too pleased with his international teammate’s reasoning behind why he would choose him – Ramos wants him as a replacement.

“If I could sign one Barcelona player for Real Madrid, that would be Sergio Busquets,” he said in the interview.

“There are a number of players I like, but the one we perhaps need is Busquets.

“Xabi Alonso is playing too many matches now and we could do with a player like Busquets.”

Ramos went on to say he admired and got along with many of the Barcelona squad, especially those he plays with at international level.

An obvious question to ask would be why he didn’t pick Lionel Messi, whom you would think is the first fantasy choice for most footballers.

Ramos claimed that even to imagine the Argentine in a los Blancos shirt would be impossible, with the same applying to Andres Iniesta.
