Swansea City are the team of the season and Michu is a “revelation”, according to Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Manchester United manager claimed he had not been surprised by the Swans’ success but was impressed at how they had gone up a level under Michael Laudrup.

Ferguson praised the Welsh club for their Capital One Cup victory and the progress they had made since now Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers secured promotion and kept them up in their first season.

Manchester United are running away with the Premier League title this season but Ferguson feels Swansea deserve the accolade of Team of the Year.

The Old Trafford chief joined numerous others in remarking at how cheaply Swansea were able to sign Michu.

The Spaniard has been in terrific goalscoring form all season notching 15 times in the Premier League and 19 in all competitions.

“Swansea have been terrific. The boy Michu has been a revelation,” Ferguson told Manchester Untied magazine Inside United

“To sign him for just £2million and get 20 goals out of him - what a bargain! I wouldn't say Swansea have been the surprise package but they've really lifted their performances.

“They were a newly-promoted side last year and managed to survive in the top flight. This season, they've kicked on to another level and become a good middle-to-top side.

“They also won the League Cup of course and they play really good football. I'd say they're the team of the year with Michu a real bargain buy.”

Manchester United were one of the opponents Michu scored against them when they could only manage a 1-1 draw at the Liberty Stadium in December.
