Manchester City relaxed over Yaya Toure contract demands

Manchester City are relaxed about Yaya Toure's contract and won't be hurried into making a decision over extending his deal, according to Sky Sports.

The Ivorian's agent Dimitri Seluk claimed this morning that his client is ready to leave Manchester City at the end of the season if the offer of a new contract isn't forthcoming by the weekend.

Seluk also added that talks over a new deal have been ongoing for six months, and hinted that talks hadn't gone as planned.

"If he signs a contract in the next three or four days, OK. If not, we will not wait any longer and will start negotiations with different clubs," Seluk was quoted as saying by The Sun.

"Today is Tuesday, so it means by Saturday. We will say 'Thank you. OK, Yaya will leave in May.'

"I do not feel he will stay at City. This is not about money. He wants to leave because of many reasons.

"He is one of the best players at Manchester City but does not feel the respect of the staff. Only Roberto Mancini respects Yaya."

However Sky Sports report that Manchester City officials feel there is no need to rush a deal through and are willing to bide their time before tying the former Barcelona midfielder down beyond the end of his current contract, which expires in 2015.

In contrast to his agent's aggressive stance, Toure stated last month that he would be happy to stay with Manchester City for the foreseeable future.

"Of course, I'd love to stay at City. I'm here with the guys who love you, the guys who care about you," he said.

"It's strange because throughout my career I have only been at clubs for two or three years, often changing after just one or two years. Here it's different. I want to stay longer."

Toure has been a revelation since he joined City from Barcelona in 2010 in a deal worth £24 million, scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final in 2011 and playing a key role in helping Roberto Mancini's side claim the Premier League title last season.
